TMT-Test

What is TMT Test
The TMT Test (Treadmill Test), also known as Exercise Stress Test, is a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate how well your heart functions under physical stress. During this test, you walk on a treadmill while your heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG (electrocardiogram) are monitored. The test helps doctors assess the heart’s response to exercise and detect any heart-related problems that may not be apparent at rest.
Key Features of a TMT Test:
- Physical Stress Test: The test involves walking on a treadmill that gradually increases in speed and incline. The goal is to stress the heart and see how it responds to increased workload.
- Heart Function Monitoring: During the test, your ECG, heart rate, and blood pressure are continuously monitored to identify any irregularities, such as abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) or reduced blood flow to the heart.
- Assessment of Heart Health: The TMT test is often used to:
- Diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD) by detecting angina (chest pain) or ischemia (reduced blood flow to the heart).
- Evaluate exercise tolerance in patients with known heart conditions.
- Monitor recovery after heart surgery or a heart attack.
- Non-Invasive: The test is safe, simple, and non-invasive, with minimal risks involved.
- Duration: The test typically lasts about 5 to 15 minutes, depending on how long the patient can tolerate the exercise.
